Peggy Hoyle Cornwell, 85, of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, while at Navion Health Partners of Shelby.

Born on May 4, 1941, in Casar, North Carolina, Peggy was the daughter of the late Moody C. Hoyle and Lucille C. Hoyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Hoyle and Frank Hoyle; and her sisters, Marjorie Rogers and Ivan Cline.

Peggy was a graduate of Casar High School and attended Gardner-Webb College. She enjoyed a successful career in banking, serving customers and communities in Shelby, Atlanta, Auburn, Greensboro, and Charlotte. She was known for her professionalism, dedication, and the lasting relationships she built throughout her career.

She is survived by her sisters, Rachel Fowler and Barbara Presley; and her brothers, Rob Hoyle and Jerry Hoyle, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.
