Peggy Jones Campfield, age 83, of Mooresboro, passed away May 26, 2023 at Oak Grove Healthcare in Rutherfordton.
Peggy was born Wednesday, October25, 1939 in Rutherford County to the late James Robert Jones, Sr. and Madlyn Durham Jones. She worked in textiles for many years and was a member of Crosslink Baptist Church in Forest City. Peggy enjoyed bird watching. Her favorite bird was the Cardinal. She had a heart to help others and her life's passion was spending time with her family. Peggy also enjoyed working on arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Charles "Dude" Campfield.
Left to cherish fond memories are her daughter, Sherry Campfield Hughes of Ellenboro; son, Steve Campfield (Kathy) of Gaffney, SC; sisters, Mary Nichols (Greg) of Gaffney, Beverly Bailey (Norman) of Boiling Springs, NC; brother, James Jones, Jr. (Peggy) of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Micheal "One Goof Ball" Hughes (Amanda), Tiffany Hughes, Kellie Campfield (Lynn Horne), Craig Campfield, Kyra Chastain (Will Guthrie); step grandchildren, Andrew Hughes and Amanda Marshall; great-grandchildren, Brian Campfield (Madison), Zachary Campfield (Jewel Wells), Ryder Campfield, August Campfield, Aiden Weast, Avery Chastain, Micheal Beltran; step great-grandchildren, Travis Marshall, Katlyn Marshall, Kadence Hughes, Sawyer Hughes, Levi Parker; great-great-grandchildren, Lucas Campfield, Elissa Campfield and a one special great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her ex-son-in-law, Charles Hughes of Rutherfordton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31st at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221a, Forest City, NC to help defray funeral costs.
