Ms. Penny Lockhart Canty, 56, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on December 10, 1964 in Cleveland County, NC to Ray Lockhart, Sr. and Laura Huskey Lockhart.

Ms. Canty was a 1984 graduate of Crest High School. She was formerly employed by Duke Energy Call Center, where she faithfully worked until her disability. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching movies, spending time with family, and shopping.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Anthony Lockhart; her maternal grandparents, Mark and Corrie Huskey and paternal grandparents, Jake and Floree Lockhart, Sr.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her parents, Ray and Laura Lockhart, Sr. one son, O'Brian Shomai Lockhart, one daughter, Erica Denise Lockhart both of Shelby, NC; Two grandchildren Jamya Spikes and O'Brian Lockhart, Jr. One brother, Pastor Ray Lockhart, Jr. (Linda), Shelby, NC; two sisters: Linda Lockhart McDowell (Rellie), Shelby, NC and Colrosee Lockhart Russell (Marcus), Shelby, NC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Canty will be private. The service will be livestreamed on Ellis Chapel FaceBook starting at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She may be viewed at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church and other times at the home of her brother, Pastor Ray Lockhart, Jr. 1465 E. Marion Street in Shelby.
