Phil Putnam, 74, died Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jack and Willie Putnam.

Phil was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and retired from Hoersch Celanese. He will be remembered as a loving, gentle and kindhearted man who will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Poston Putnam.

He is survived by his son, Robbie Putnam and wife Jennifer; daughter, Melissa Huffstetler and husband Scott of Shelby, both of Shelby; the mother of his children, Susan Rhodes of Shelby; sister, Jackie Miller and husband Geary of Magee, MS; brother, Chris Putnam and wife Teri of Shelby; grandchildren, Dalton Putnam and wife Ashten, Colby Putnam and Ben Huffstetler; extended family, Chris and Pamela Wray and their children and Steve and Joyce Putnam and their children; and nieces, Kathy and Brad Vancleave and their children and Kandy and Scott Gibson and their children.

Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. The family will receive friends 9:30-11:00AM, prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
