Phillip Carson Jones, age 60, died peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Hospice Wendover in Shelby after a struggle with Merkel Cell Cancer, a very rare cancer. He was born in Cleveland County on April 16, 1958. Phil retired from PPG after 34 years from 1981-2015 and afterwards he tutored and later worked at Creative Kidz Preschool. Earlier he worked at Harris Teeter and served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a talented artist, baker and loved sharing his gifts with others. Phil was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and faithful servant of God. He participated in many mission trips, VBS activities and served as a deacon. He was a member of the Emmauel Emmaus community and a 1977 graduate of Crest High School.

Phil is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kim Carroll Jones of Shelby, his son Nathan Jones and wife Michelle and twins, Mason and Willow, son, Brock Jones and wife Breanna and children, Isabelle and Gabriel. He was a wonderful husband, father and a proud "Paw Paw." He leaves many family and friends to cherish wonderful memories and his legacy.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held 4:30 pm Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. The family will fellowship following the service in the Family Life Building. Casual attire is requested.

A scrapbook will be available for you to share your favorite memory of Phil.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Phil's giving spirit, the family requests friends bring an item or monetary donation to the benefit of Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
