Fallston - Phyllis Boggs Elmore, 55, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home on Flat Rock.

Born on January 22, 1957, Phyllis was the daughter of Andrew Max and Ann Mintz Boggs of Fallston.  She was a 1975 graduate of Burns High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1979, with a B.S. degree in Nursing where she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Sorority.  After marriage and while starting a family, Phyllis worked part-time as an office nurse for Dr. Robert Jones.  She also taught part-time in the LPN program at Cleveland Community College.  Following full-time RN positions at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and the Cleveland County Health Department.

She then received her teaching certificate so she could teach Health Occupations in NC. Phyllis returned to her high school alma mater, Burns High, to teach Health Occupations.  She taught for the past 25 years at Burns, taking pride in training her students to be nursing assistants. During her years as an RN she served as a Hospice RN Volunteer.  She
organized numerous bloodmobiles for Burns High and taught CPR to many students.  Phyllis was previous named as a Burns High School Teacher of the Year in 2010 and Career Technical Education Teacher of the year for Cleveland County Schools.  She was selected by students for the Distinguished Image Educator Award and Time Warner Cable Star Teacher.  In the 2011-2012 yearbook, Phyllis was voted by the students as the "Most Over Worked Teacher".

Phyllis also served as Career Technical Education Department chair for many years, Professional Learning Committee Career Technical Education Department leader for several years and served on Burns High School School Improvement
team on many occasions during her 25 years at Burns.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her high school sweet heart and loving husband of 33 years, Andy Elmore of Fallston; daughter, Leigh Ann Earwood and husband, Keith of Double Shoals, son, Jason Elmore and wife, Lori of Fallston and son, Justin Elmore and wife, Ashley of Fallston; two grandchildren, Gage Earwood of Double Shoals and Brody Elmore of Fallston; step grandchildren, Jennifer Earwood of Double Shoals and Kelsi Earwood of Polkville; brother, Andy Boggs and wife, Mary of Fallston; and nephews, Drew Boggs and Austin Boggs both of Fallston.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday at Polkville Baptist Church

Burial: Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery
