Phyllis Marlene Perry Scott

SHELBY - Mrs. Phyllis Marlene Perry Scott, 73, passed away at Wendover Hospice on Friday, March 23, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. Marlene was born 14 April 1944 to Bonny Callaway Perry and Doris Elaine Dodson in Willows California.

Marlene leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband Paul S. Scott of Shelby; two sons, Doug Allen Freeman of Ontario, California and Troy Dale Freeman of Montague, California; one step-daughter, Blossom Marie LaFaille of Simi, California; one brother, Nolan Perry of Rio Vista, California; first husband, Dan Freeman of Ontario, California; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Marlene moved to Shelby in 2005 when her husband retired from Pacific Gas and Electric Company in California. She had several fights with cancer in her life and finally lost the battle on 23 March 2018 in Shelby. Her family was living just north of Willow in a small community called Artois. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Marlow, Oklahoma until Marlene was about 6 years old. The family then moved to Merced, California the to Pittsburg, California. She graduated from Pacifica High School in Pittsburg, California and later attended beauty school and became a beautician working in Pittsburg for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on April 7, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 307 Country Club Rd, Shelby, NC 28150.
