Polkville Road Interchange Small Area Plan To Host Public Open House
The City of Shelby and Cleveland County are focusing on the development associated with the interchanges of the new US 74 Bypass. The Polkville Road Interchange is the second of five interchanges and small area plans. This is part of the small area plans being developed for the new US 74 Bypass.
A public open house for the Polkville Road Interchange Small Area Plan (PRISAP) will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, with two sessions from 4:00 – 5:30 pm OR 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Shelby City Park Gymnasium (850 W Sumter St, Shelby, NC 28150). Small area plans examine the local conditions and address a specific area’s needs and opportunities with detailed recommendations. They provide a collaborative process for citizens to work together to improve their neighborhood and ensure a better future.
The intention of this small area plan is to get ahead of the curve as to what kind of change might take place with the development associated with the interchanges of the new US 74 Bypass and to figure out a strategy for how that change should happen over time. With your participation at the open house, we can achieve this.
The open house will be held in the City Park Gymnasium with two sessions to allow more opportunities for residents to attend. The event will begin with a review of the planning process and the findings to date. The leadership team will then facilitate an engaging and interactive discussion with the participants to gather input on future development in the Washburn Switch study area. This open house is a chance for the public to join friends and neighbors for a discussion about the new US 74 Bypass and the potential development it will bring to surrounding areas. We will work together to develop a plan for the future.
