Polkville VFD Holds 48th Annual Turkey Dinner
Polkville Fire Department held their annual fund raiser at the Union Elementary School cafeteria, Sunday, March 6th. The rain didn’t dampen the turnout for one of the best dinners served in Cleveland County, as well over 1500 dinners were served. The event started forty-eight years ago when a member of the department and a turkey farmer suggested hosting a dinner as a fund raiser. Funds from the feast will help with the completion of the new five bay firehouse currently being built in the town. The new firehouse will also feature sleeping quarters, a community/training room and offices. Also incorporated into the design will be a facial touch of the old Polkville High School building. Pictured above Polkville Fire Chief, Jerry Silver makes sure that Alexis, Marla and Mark Patterson were enjoying their meal. Mark is the head of The Patterson Design Group and is the architect of the new facility. The Polkville Volunteer Fire Department currently has thirty-seven volunteer firemen.
