Members of American Legion Post 82 in Shelby, NC took part in a Salute to Law Enforcement during the Commander's Walk on August 16th, 2019. The event was held in connection with the American Legion World Series. Led by a police color guard and a bagpiper, the procession included law enforcement officers, American Legion National Commander Brett Reistad,, NC Department Commander James Moore, NC Auxillary President Julie Smith, and local officials. Some disabled persons rode in wheelchairs. Participants marched from the Earl Scruggs Center to a Fallen Heroes Memorial, a distance of about two blocks. National Commander Reistad is a retired law enforcement officer and a US Army Veteran.
