Rachel Heavner Dixon, 98, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Hospice Wendover in Shelby.

Margaret Rachel Heavner Dixon, age 98, of Shelby, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2025.

Born on January 2, 1927, in Cherryville, NC, Rachel was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ila Heavner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Dixon; her sisters, Carolyn Jenks and Theada Beck.

Rachel is survived by her two sons, Bill Dixon and Chuck Dixon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-great-grandchild.


A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Cleveland Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.


A memorial service will follow in the Webb Chapel at First Baptist Church of Shelby on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Asher Panton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Shelby: 120 N. Lafayette St. Shelby, NC 28150.
