Ralph Amasta Greene, age 99, of Shelby, NC was born in Cleveland County on October 1, 1921.

He was the son of the late Grover B. and Essie Mae McEntire Greene. Ralph was a World Word II Veteran. He was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church for many years and retired from Carolina Freight after 20 plus years as a driver. Soon after retirement he continued his driving career with numerous tour buses groups and organizations. He had a great love for golf and continued to play well into his 90s. During his time on the golf course he made many close friends and acquaintances of which he cherished greatly.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 37 years Lucille Byrd Greene, numerous brothers and sisters, an adopted son Mike Greene, and a stepson Larry Byrd.

He is survived by two stepsons Terry and wife Brenda Byrd, Dennis and wife Miranda, and one stepdaughter-in-law Alice Byrd. Ralph is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday February 27, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Ken Byrd officiating.
