Ralph Marvin Lail, age 87 of Shelby, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 2, 2022.

He is survived by his children, Scott Lail (Teresa) and Todd Lail, a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Lail, grandchildren, Stephanie Justice (Jason), Andrea Yates (Chad), and Jessica Doster (Corey), nine great grandchildren, Haley, Brandon, Caleb, Addie, Hannah, Eli, Austyn, Maverick, and Caden, one great great grandson, Zachary, a brother, Virgil Lail, a sister, Susie Bowling, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born May 17, 1935 in Cleveland County, Ralph was the son of the late Marvin "Bud" Lail and Eva Ledford Lail and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Diane Piercy Lail, a son, Randy Lail, three brothers, Howard Lail, Roy Pinkey Lail, and Lloyd Lee Lail, and a sister, Marilyn Frances Pitchford.

Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, listening to bluegrass music, and telling stories of his youth. Ralph served proudly in the United States Navy.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Skip Allen. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm - 3:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery with the immediate family.

The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Hospice of Cleveland County and Ralph's caregiver, Pamela Lail for the loving care that she gave Ralph during his illness.
