Raquel Perez Batista, age 76, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at her residence.

She is survived by a son, Santos Torres of Gastonia, NC, three sisters, Carmen Berrios and husband, Victor of Shelby, NC, Ana Rosado and husband, Eloy of Shelby, NC, and Esperanza Perez of Gastonia, NC.

Born in Bayamon Puerto Rico in March 10, 1944, Raquel was the daughter of the late Ramon and Rosa Santiago Perez. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Magda Torres.

Raquel was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and sister. She was an avid reader who loved sharing what she learned with others. She also enjoyed gardening. Her greatest joy was participating in the bible education ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Raquel was an excellent Christian role model and helped many people make positive changes in their lives.

The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
