Ray was born on February 3, 1931 in Cleveland County, to the late Walter Theodore Warlick and Lessie Lawrence Downs Warlick.

Ray was a true dairyman. He and his brother founded Warlick Brothers Dairy, Inc. in 1949 where he led a successful dairy career for 41 years, taking a two-year hiatus to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Additionally, Ray was a life-long member of Norman's Grove Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He often reminisced on his days of playing basketball in high school and enjoyed watching sports, and spent his later years putting together scenic puzzles and word searches. Ray cherished his family, and always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray was most known for his welcoming personality to everyone who visited, always enjoying a good laugh and conversation, and brought a smile to all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert Warlick, Walter Warlick and Troy Warlick, and two sisters, Mary Lou Davis and Margaret Harbison.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Marilyn Martin Warlick, two sons, Ray Warlick Jr. and wife Cindy of Fallston, Terry Warlick and wife Sherry of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Ashley Collins and husband Guy David of Bailey, Dustin Warlick and wife Whitney of Harmony, a step grandson, Toby McCaskill and wife Martha of Tennessee, two great grandchildren, Gracelynn and Blake Warlick, two-step great grandchildren, Katie and Emily, and two sisters Cecelia Miller of Lenoir, and Phyllis Miller of Huntersville.
