Rayford "Happy" Ledford, 83 of Fallston Road, Shelby, peacefully reunited with his daughter Renee in Heaven on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born in Cleveland County, NC on September 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Clevie Roy Ledford and Gladys Irene Wortman Ledford. Ray was retired from Farm Bureau Insurance Company and Doran Textiles. He was a member of New Home United Methodist Church and served his community by full filling others needs through volunteering with the Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Ledford; two sisters, Josephine Ledford and Evelyn Parrish and four brothers, John, Floyd, Richard and Louie Ledford.
Ray will be remembered by the love of his life for 60 years, Margaret Ingle Ledford; a daughter, Michelle Hoyle and husband, Van of Shelby; four grandchildren, Brittany Burnette (Alex), Eddie Hoyle, Clifton Hoyle (Laura) and Brandon Eaker (Kristi); three great-grandchildren, Barrett Burnette, Jamison Burnette and Ellie-Grace Hoyle; three sisters, Hilda Beatty of Bostic, Thana Hudson and Irene Houser both of Casar and "adopted daughters" Pam McCurry, Kari Thomas, Susie Cook and Kathy Grigg.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held on Sunday at 3:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Padgett officiating.
The burial will be private.
