Rebecca Jane Russ Bridges, age 88, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Fair Haven Home in Bostic, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on October 31, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John Bingham and Madge Olivia Greene Russ. In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her husband Obie Eugene Bridges, two brothers, Drayton and Ray Russ and a sister, Inez Russ Cooper.

Becky worked 30 plus years at The Little Red School House in Rutherford County and taught many children who knew her as Maw Maw Becky. She was a faithful member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church, where she served as the custodian, youth director and Sunday school teacher for many years.

Becky is survived by her two sons, Steve Bridges (Myra) and Mark Bridges, a daughter Maryann Blackwell, a brother Kenneth Russ (Shirley) and many loving nieces and nephews including, Sonya and Brittany Nalley. Becky is also survived by her two grandchildren, Travis Moore (Tiffany) and John Yelton, as well as, two great-grandsons Jackson and Jordan Moore.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday March 27, 2022 at Drury Dobbins Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC with Rev. Wayne Toney and Rev. Joey Hamrick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2pm - 3pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
