Reginald (Reggie) Van Ledford

Reginald (Reggie) Van Ledford, 66, passed away after a lengthy illness at Atrium Cleveland on Friday, March 18, 2022.

Reggie was born on June 13, 1955, in Gastonia, NC to Bryan Hayes Ledford and Joyce Ponder Ledford. He grew up in Asheville and moved to Fayetteville where he graduated from Seventy-First High School in 1973 and attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian College. Reggie later moved to Shelby and worked as a sales rep for Mid-State Mills, McCormick and Co. and also Sellethics Marketing.

After recovering from an extended bout with cancer, Reggie completed his associates degree in accounting in 2012 from Cleveland Community College. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in accounting from Gardner-Webb University in 2013. He pursued his master's degree in accounting from GWU in 2015 where he received the Dr. Frank R. Campbell Master of Accountancy Academic Excellence Award. He worked as an accounting tutor at Cleveland Community College and later became an adjunct instructor. He truly loved working with students and being an encourager to them.

He has been a member of First Baptist Church after he moved to Shelby, where he taught Sunday School, was in the sanctuary choir and sanctuary hand bells. He has been a deacon and served on many committees. He taught single adults in Sunday school and Friday night Bible studies. He hosted many single's events and retreats over the years. He had a true servant heart and a passion for serving his Lord.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather J. Hugh Mauney, paternal grandparents Clarence Theodore and Eula Hayes Ledford, maternal grandparents Robert Hoyle and Mattie Shuford Ponder, and a brother Randy Dean Ledford

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Jeri Mauney Ledford and their son Benjamin Hugh Ledford. Also brother Roddy Bryan Ledford and sister-in-law Linda of Greer, SC and sister-in-law Margaret Ledford of Fayetteville, NC in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

One of the things that brought Reggie the most joy was time spent with his loving wife, Jeri and their son Ben, the loves of his life.

He loved his Lord, his family and was an encourager to all he met. He loved everyone and was loved by everyone. He will truly be missed.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Shelby with Rev. Perry Holleman and Rev. Dr. Doug Hankins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12 - 1 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Cemetery.
