Lorene McMurry O'Dell, age 76, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Lorene was born Thursday, July 17, 1947 in Rutherford County to the late Julius McMurry and Estelle Watson McMurry. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1966. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Lorene loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, cooking for special occasions and was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. She was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church. Lorene will be sorely missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison O'Dell; brother, Glenn McMurry and a sister, Barbara McMurry Champion.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Donald O'Dell; sons, Bruce O'Dell (Sharon) of Mooresboro, Wayne O'Dell of Ellenboro, Larry "Turkey" O'Dell (Teresa) of Mooresboro and Brian O'Dell (Kristy) of Mooresboro; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence McMurry Tesseneer of Forest City and Lillie McMurry Smith of Ellenboro.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 26th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Frank Camp and Mr. Brian O'Dell officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
