Rev. Paris McCurry, age 86, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Rutherford County on may 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Rev. Bell Branch McCurry. Rev. McCurry worked for J. P. Steves for a number of years before becoming a minister. He went to many different states spreading the word of God. In his spare time, Rev. McCurry enjoyed playing golf and fishing. In addition to his parents Rev. McCurry is preceded in death by two brothers, Millard McCurry and G. C. McCurry; a daughter, Kathy Ridings; and a grandson, Kevin Borders.

Rev. McCurry is survived by his wife of 68 years Aileen Davis McCurry of Shelby; a daughter, Linda Greene and husband Keith of Shelby; three grandchildren; Gary Borders, Celeste Kimbrell, and Daria Burns; five great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 31 , 2017 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Eric Kimbrell and Michael Burns Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, and other times at the home of Linda and Keith Greene, 1619 Woodlawn Avenue, Shelby NC 28150.
