NEWTON - Mr. Richard Allen Shoup "Allen", age 64 passed away on December 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Catawba Hospice House in Newton. Allen was predeceased by his Mother, Vangie Mearl Shoup. He was a member of Northbrook Baptist Church, and worked in the Furniture Industry for many years at Clayton Marcus Furniture. He loved to fish, both locally and deep sea, loved camping, but his true love was spending time with his grandchildren. Allen always put his family and others first and was a hard working Christian man. He enjoyed reading his Bible, playing Board games with his family, watching NASCAR, so he could pull for Jeff Gordon, and watching wrestling on TV.
Allen leaves many family members to carry out his legacy. Three children; Amy Nichole Shoup Lail (Shane) of Claremont, Whitney Amber Shoup (Mike) of Cherryville, Jonathan Colon Brice Shoup of Crouse. Three grandchildren; Dakota Ryan Lail, Miranda Kaylan Lail, Zoey Jewels Gonzalez; his church family and many friends.
A Celebration of Allens Life will be held Saturday December 17th at 12:00 P.M. at NorthBrook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Road, Cherryville NC 28021. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
