Richard was born on May 20, 1947 to the late Ralph Jones, Jr. and Dorothy Beaver Jones.  He was employed with Machine Builders as a machinist and was a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school.  He also served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Jones and wife Nicole of Waco and Chris Jones of Shelby; daughter, Wendy Hedgepath and husband Michael of Shelby; two brothers, Rev. Bill Jones of Gaffney, SC and Rev. Jack Jones of

Cliffside; and 9 grandchildren. 

Visitation, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.  At other times the family will be at the home of Rose Cook, 3511 Fallston Rd, Shelby, NC 28150.  Condolences may be made online at www.stameyfuneralhome.com.

Funeral Services, 2:00 pm, Tuesday,  Wallace Grove Baptist Church, Shelby. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
