Richard Eugene Hamrick, age 76, died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare Cleveland. Born in Cleveland County on September 4, 1941 he was the son of the late Everette Eugene and Cynthia Estelle Hicks Hamrick. Richard was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He retired from Kings Mountain District Schools as a math teacher for Kings Mountain Junior High School. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master for troop #113 in Lattimore. After retirement he enjoyed meeting people and selling at the flea market.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcelle McSwain Hamrick; three sons, Rick Hamrick and wife Sandy of Polkville, Ronny Hamrick and wife Pam of Shelby, and Jimmy Hamrick and wife Tracy of Shelby; two sisters, Randee Jones of High Point and Kathi Walker of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Abby Hamrick, Clayton Hamrick, Josh Hamrick, Richie Hamrick and wife Meagan, Emily Hamrick; and one great granddaughter, Janna Hamrick; several nieces and nephews, and other loving family members.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Runyon, Rev. Phil Hughes and Dr. Paul Sorrells, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the sanctuary.
