Ricky "Rick" Ray LaMountain

Ricky "Rick" Ray LaMountain, age 70, passed away on March 26, 2021 at his home in Grover.

Born in Gaston County on June 26, 1950 he was the son of the late Raymond Phillip LaMountain and wife Kathleen Rosa Robertson LaMountain.

He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict as a "mortar man."

Rick was a hard working man and was employed with Bost Bakery and Jenkins Livermush for many years in his younger days as well as working as an Inspector for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture where he retired after twenty years of service. He was also an avid and very skilled professional fisherman and was the 1995 Red Man All American Champion. Rick will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters; Joyce Gilliam and Mary Jo Sides.

Rick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry Franklin LaMountain of the home, two sons; David Ray LaMountain of Grover, Larry Gene McCurry and wife Lisa of Shelby, and one daughter Kathleen "Nikki" Ledford and husband Chris of Boiling Springs, one sister Corina Patterson and husband Rodney of Shelby, six grandchildren; Lacie Ledford, Joshua LaMountain, Kristin Terry, Cody McCurry, Nicholas McCurry and Peyton McCurry as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at New Buffalo Baptist Church with Reverends Adam Green and Keith Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm until 2pm in the church sanctuary.

It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
