Rita Kay Canipe Davis, age 68, of Belwood, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby after a prolonged illness.

Rita was born on May 30, 1953 to Ray and Lucille Canipe of Belwood. After graduating from Burns High School in 1970, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and later to Germany, before returning to North Carolina. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Lawndale, NC, and in 1977, became a loving and dedicated mother.

She was a valued employee, having worked at Shadowline, Standard Crankshaft and Mangum and Associates, to name a few. She retired in 2014 to devote her time to her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored.

In addition to her parents, left to always remember and cherish her memory are her son, Christopher Wayne Davis and his wife, Amanda, of Belwood; three grandchildren: Ashley Davis of Spartanburg, SC and Spencer Davis and Liliana Davis, both of Belwood; her brother, Michael Canipe of Crouse, NC; a nephew, Ayden Canipe, also of Crouse; two aunts, Linda Cook of Belwood and Faye Ledford of Hickory, NC; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 2:00pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Allan Barlow officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

The family will be at the home of her parents, Ray and Lucille Canipe, at 5709 Fallston Rd., Lawndale, NC.

Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
