Robert "Bob" Harold Pegram, Sr.,

Robert "Bob" Harold Pegram, Sr., age 80, of Shelby, NC and formerly of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 1, 2017.
Born July 7, 1937 in Henderson, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Annie Mae Pegram. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Marquita Ann Pegram; brother, James Arthur Pegram; sister, Frances Pegram Twisdale and her husband Pip.
Bob served in the US Army as a telegraph operator while stationed in Japan from 1957-1959 and later a "telephone man", working for AT&T and Bell South for a combined 30 years. He faithfully served John Knox Presbyterian Church where he was a member for 48 years in various roles: Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader and soup kitchen chef. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, watching Crest High sports, gardening and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his faithful companion and champion, Pat Hamrick and her entire family; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Paulette of Sanford, Tom and Holley of Monroe, Mike and Beth of Raleigh, Brad and Tonya of Williamsburg, Virginia; sisters, Shirley Taylor and husband Al of Henderson, Louise Gibson and husband Sidney of Littleton, Betsey Gupton and husband Gene of Henderson; and sister-in-law, Frances Pegram of Henderson. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, RH Pegram, III and wife Audrey of Cameron, Zach and Addie of Sanford, Paige of Raleigh, Patrick of Monroe, Emory and Ellie of Raleigh, Hunter and Kaitlyn of Williamsburg, Virginia; and great-grandchild, Landon.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 4, 2017 at John Knox Presbyterian Church with Pastor Deborah Lesenger officiating. Entombment will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Cleveland Memorial Park Mausoleum.
