Robert "Bob" Hoyt Hayes, 78, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Peak Resources Cherryville.

Born in Cleveland County, on February 3, 1945, he was a son of the late Joe Hoyt Hayes and Mary Sue Ledford Hayes. He was retired form ASTI in Troutman, NC as the Chairman of the Board and CEO. He also served in the US Marines during the Vietnam Conflict. Bob was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC Foothills Detachment, Marine Corp League 1164, and the VFW.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Erika Q. Hayes; second wife Yvonne Ford Hayes; infant brother, Joe Landrum Hayes; and a sister, Wanda Haughton.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby Hayes of Palm City, FL and Mark Hayes and wife Sarah of Canonsburg, PA; a daughter, Karen Martin of Mooresboro; a sister, Dianne Thackerson of Shelby; three grandchildren, Emily Gunther and Megan Groves, Madison "Bee" Hayes and Zack Hayes.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Stamey-Tyisnger Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial may be made to NC Foothills Detachment, Marine Corp League 1164 or Via Health Partners (Hospice Cleveland County).
