Robert Ernest Powell, Sr., 74, of 531 Fisher Road, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cherryville.

Robert was born in Lincoln County, NC on September 17, 1946 a son of the late William O. Powell and Frances Harrelson Powell. He was owner and operator of Powell and Sons Concrete. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1971.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Stacy Lee Powell and a brother, Frank Powell.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Linda Powell of the home; two sons, Robbie Powell of Cherryville; Fred Powell and wife Michele of Vale; a daughter, Donna Powell of Cherryville; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Powell of Lincolnton; a brother, Bill Powell of Shelby; two sisters, Peggy Lackey of Cary and Pat McSwain of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Kayla Eakes (Justin), Brittany Sisk (Justin), Gabrielle Powell, Sophie Powell, Jake Powell, Katherine Powell, Katelyn Powell and Jace Powell; one great grandson, Oliver Eakes.

The family will have a Celebration of Robert's Life at the home, 531 Fisher Road, Cherryville from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Friday, August 20, 2021.
