Robert Joe "Bob" Tate, age 86, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Rutherford County, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Autumn Care Home of Sarasota.
Bob was born January 22, 1929 in Rutherford County. He worked for Burlington Industries and Cone Mills for fifty years before retirement. He enjoyed jogging and golfing. Bob was known as a fair, honest and loving man. He said what he meant and stood by what he said. He was a hard worker and a great moral teacher. He loved his family above all else but was kind to everyone, a true man of character.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Pauline Millwood Tate and one sister, Dottie Faye Tate.
Survivors include one son, Doug Tate and wife, Patty of Sarasota, Florida; two grandchildren, Tim Tate and Eric Tate and wife, Bobbi of Cincinnati, Ohio; thirteen great-grandchildren, Joel Tate , C.J. Tate, Bailey Stafford, Bree Tate, Michael Schaeffer, Anthony Schaeffer, Madison Anderson, Kamilla Tate, Christopher Ruehle, Kayleigh Ruehle, Kaytlynn Ruehle, Kirsten Ruehle and Sierra Stamper.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating.
