Robert Lewis Crank, Sr.

Robert Lewis Crank, Sr., 81, of 414 Marys Grove Church Road Kings Mountain , NC passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 4, 1938 in Gaston County, NC to the late Moses Ezekiel Crank and Ella Bell Kennedy Crank.

Deacon Crank was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where he served as the head deacon for 38 years. He loved to sing and previously sang with the Shinnettes Gospel Quartet. A family oriented man at heart, he was married for 53 years to his wife Eula Camp Crank and to this union three children were born, Robert, Jr., Janie and Marshall. He loved his family and especially enjoyed doting on his grandchildren.

Before retiring, Deacon Crank was employed with Mohican Mills and was employed part-time with both Crest High and Washington Elementary Schools. Always one who kept busy, he enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and working on cars. He was known for his well kept yard and his green thumb. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy C. Lewis, Marie Crank, Elizabeth C. Sinclair and Ellatta Bernice C. Williams.

He leaves to cherish long and lasting memories to his wife, Eula C. Crank; his three children, Robert Lewis Crank, Jr. (Harolyn) of Shelby, Janie Crank of the home and Marshall Crank (Denisha) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Joshua Crank (Natiwya) of Gastonia, NC, Eric Crank and Phillip Gaines both of Shelby, Chelsi Alexander of Wadesboro, NC, Calista Crank of Shelby and Caiden Pless of the home; two great-grandchildren, Ava Chanell Crank and Ma'Kenzie Gaines; brothers, Douglas "Art" Crank (Pauline) and Donnell Crank (Aileen) both of Gastonia, NC and Jeremiah Crank of Tampa, FL; sisters, Mozell C. Robinson of Tampa, FL, Ruby C. Huge of Bronx, NY, Josephine C. Wallace (Herbert) and Mary Crank both of Gastonia, NC, Missouri C. Glover (Julius) and Barbara C. Adams both of Charlotte, NC; three special cousins, Joe Crank, Leann Walls and Dolan Crank; sisters-in-law, Bertha Boykins, Esther Littlejohn (James), Janie Parks, Kathleen Camp Byers and Corrine Camp all of Shelby; special friends, Coleman Hunt, Dan Lister and Thomas Gardner and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mr. Crank will be private. He may be viewed on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Mountain View Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a reception of friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church.
