Robert Peace, age 73, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. Born December 14, 1943 he was the son of the late Isom James Peace and Ellen Blanton Peace. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam Conflict. Robert enjoyed fishing, driving his 18-wheeler fixing CB radios and playing with his dog Cricket.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Steven Wayne Peace, Isom Jerry Peace, and Dennis Roy Peace.

Robert is survived by his faithful canine companion Cricket Patricia Peace, his daughter Ellen June Peace Colberth; step-daughter, Sheila Louise Bowen; step-sons, James Ray Bowen and Ira Lee Bowen, all of Shelby; sisters, Nancy Ellen Brewer of Shelby, Diane Burleyson of Shelby, Suzanne Peace Crawley and husband John of Vale; two brothers John Peace of Gastonia and Terry Joe Peace and wife Teresa of Maggie Valley; grandchildren, Aaron Rhyne, Heather Gantt, and Nicholas Peace; great-grandchildren Holden Rhyne, Dianna Rhyne, and Jasper Nevinson as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and many caring friends.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Rodney Navey officiating and full military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm until 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place Friday, November 17, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
