Robert "Robbie" Montgomery Player

Robert "Robbie" Montgomery Player, beloved son of Bryan and Leah Player of Boiling Springs, NC, died Saturday morning April 1st, 2017.

Robbie, age 20, attended North Shelby School since 2007 and graduated with a certificate of completion in 2016. He continued to attend North Shelby as part of the Achieve Connections Program after graduation.

He was a cherished member of Heritage Fellowship Church where he attended with his family. He is survived by his parents, Bryan and Leah, his younger brother, Sam, younger sister, Ellie; his paternal grandfather, Dow Player, and maternal grandfather Thomas Montgomery; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special people who have helped him throughout his life.

During Robbie's short life, physical and medical issues constantly challenged him. From infancy, visual impairment, autism, and epilepsy never gave him an easy day. Though he never spoke any words, he could express his affection, kindness, and gentleness though his actions. His emotional expressions were honest and un-pretentious, his tenacity admirable, his fleeting laugh irresistible, his rare eye contact precious, and his toughness un-paralleled. Throughout his life his unique personality drew helpers and therapists close to his heart and into theirs. He will never leave our hearts.

Though we grieve for him now, we rest in the peace that passes understanding that he stands with our Lord and Savior. He now knows an eternal life filled with joy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Heritage Fellowship Church in Boiling Springs, NC. A memorial service for Robbie will be held Wednesday April 5 at 4:30pm at North Shelby School's gymnasium. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to North Shelby School in honor of Robbie.

Arrangements by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
