Rockfort C. Goode, age 88, of Holland Street, Forest City, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born of Sunday, December 4, 1927 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the Robert Lee Goode and Addie Lee Van Dyke Goode. He worked in textiles for many years, having worked for Fieldcrest, General Fireproofing and Stonecutter before his retirement. He attended Victory Baptist Church in Cliffside and also drove the van for the Church of the Exceptional. Rockfort was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching westerns, but he especially loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara Allen Goode; two sisters, Geneva Dills and Alafair Smart; three brothers, Ernest Lee "Pep" Goode, Albert "P.A." Goode and Lawrence "Nick" Goode.
Survivors include three sons Ray Goode and wife, Leilani of Forest City, Hershel Goode and wife, Susan of Mooresboro and George Goode and wife, Teresa of Forest City; one brother, Eric Goode and wife, Rejane of Kannapolis. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Interment will follow in the Caroleen-Avondale-Henrietta Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
