Rodger McDaniel

Rodger McDaniel, 91, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 23, 2022 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC.

Rodger was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late John Dixon McDaniel and Annie Dixon McDaniel and was preceded in death by beloved wife of 58 years, Orangel Parrish McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tim McDaniel, 7 brothers, Glenn, Clyde, Naaman, Charles, William "Bill", Gerald, and Gene Brevard McDaniel, and his sisters, Josephine Sellers, Sarah Stroupe, Helen Roberts, Ruth Sanders, and Martha Ann Wright.

Rodger was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was a dedicated and talented member of the choir. He served the United States honorably in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Rodger was stationed in Germany for 18 months where he was a tank mechanic and driver. He made his career in manufacturing transformers and later worked for several automobile dealerships, including Wade Ford, transporting vehicles. Until his declining health prevented him from being as active, Rodger enjoyed tinkering on cars and working in his garden. He was an avid Braves and Tarheels fan. Rodger enjoyed living a simple life and was a man of few words. However, when he did speak, his words were filled with wisdom and were taken to heart.

He was a wonderful family man who always greeted you with a peppermint and a smile and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
