Rodney Renard Nolen

Rodney Renard Nolen, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his home in Boiling Springs, NC.

Born in Gaston County on February 17, 1941 he was the son of the late Rev. A. R. Nolen and Lois Anderson Nolen. In addition to his parents, Rodney is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, J. L. Beason, Sr and Helen Whisenant Beason. A lifelong and faithful member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Rodney served on numerous church committees and in various capacities, including Church Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for 5th grade boys, as well as, Food Pantry Volunteer for more than 6 years. Rodney spent 29 years working and managing the Snack Shop of Boiling Springs where he touched the lives of many. He served as a Committee Member of Boy Scout Group 117 and as a past member of the Boiling Springs Lions Club.

Most of all, Rodney had unconditional love for his family and community, having never met a stranger. He led by example sharing to others the meaning of the words, "Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself".

Rodney is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Beason Nolen and their two children, R. Scott Nolen (Jill) and James "Jamie" G. Nolen (Pam), as well as, his four grandchildren, Melia Nolen Graves (Clark), Hayden Petty Nolen (Torie), Mara Nolen Palmeri (Reese), and Cpl. James Gibson Nolen, Jr. (Alexandra Hawkins). Also left to cherish his memory is his great grandson, Nolen Clark Graves, his sister April Nolen Harrill (Larry), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom of which adored "Uncle Rodney".

A special thank you to the Beason family; Mary and Talmadge Turner, Jimmy and Sandy Beason as well as, Terry and Betsy Beason for their love and care provided to Rodney in his later years.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2022 in the sanctuary of Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carroll Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM in the LEC. Burial will follow the service in Cleveland Memorial Park.
