Roger Dale Thomason, 76, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, April 24, 2023. He was born on December 23, 1946 to the late Wylie Thomason and Rachael Stamey Thomason in Catawba County. He was also predeceased by sons, Roger Keith Thomason and Steven Randall Haney; brothers, Richard Thomason, Louise Thomason and James Thomason.

Mr. Thomason leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughters, Kathy McIntyre (Charles) and Kimberly Woody (Daniel); son, Aaron Thomason (Angela Chonta); step-sons, John Spurling (April) and Matthew Spurling (JoAnn); grandchildren, Amanda Canipe, Angel Uecker, Ashlee Sherrill, Brittany Thomason, Christopher McAbee, Kristy Haney, Christian Hughes, Elijah Woody, Elizabeth Spurling, Grace Spurling, Ciera Toney and Mia Spurling; great-grandchildren, Addison Sherrill, Chloe Sherrill, Miles Uecker, Wyatt Uecker, Jaeden Good, Natalie Good, Lily Helms, Alexis and Kloie Carver; brother, Jerry Thomason (Cathey); sister, JoAnn Jones.

Mr. Thomason served 2 tours in Vietnam. He retired from Dimension Wood Products. He loved the Lord, his children and grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Paw Paw", next to being a child of God, being a "Paw Paw" made him the proudest. Paw Paw loved to fish and instructed us to find a creekbank when we missed him too bad. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Open Word Holiness Church, 3153 Blackburn School Road, Newton, NC 28658 with Pastor Matthew Sparks officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Internment will be immediately following the service at Catawba Memorial Park, 3060 U.S. Highway 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
