Roger Edward Barrick, Sr., age 95, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Wickshire Senior Living in Charlotte, NC. Born outside Marietta, Ohio on November 14, 1925 he was the son of to the late August Elmer Barrick and Goldie Clarice Rogers Barrick. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn King Barrick of almost 50 years, a brother, Clifford Barrick of Lady Lake, Florida, three sisters Constance Allen of Dearborn, Michigan, Dorothy Brown of California, his infant sister Esta Lavone Barrick and one daughter Karol Barrick.

He was an active member of The Church of Christ since age 16. After the second grade, he continued his education in Michigan. His education was put on hold when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After the surrender of Japan, he was discharged as an officer-in-training from the Aviation Cadet System. His education was competed by graduating from The Detroit Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His engineering experience lasted 27 years with Wyandotte Chemicals in Michigan and then transferred to Catalytic in Charlotte and Proctor-Gamble in Greenville, N.C. After retirement, he relocated to Shelby in 1998.

He is survived by one son, Roger of Stanley, NC. and his wife Mitzi and their three daughters, Allison, Megan and Karolyn along numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby, NC with Minister Terry Graves Officiating. The family will receive friends Monday February 15, 2021 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory 106 Cherryville Rd Shelby, NC 28150.
