Roger Eugene "Gene" Henson, age 75 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 6, 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma Sisk Henson of the home, a daughter, Leslie Hope Gibson of Shelby, NC, two grandchildren, Taylor Selby and Kayla Crowder, both of Shelby, NC, a special great granddaughter, Waverly Selby, two brothers, William "Bill" Henson of Shelby, NC, and David Henson (Brenda) of Shelby, NC, a sister, Sandra "Sandy" Charles of Shelby, NC, a sister-in-law, Maxine Sisk of Shelby, NC, and special friends, Jeffery Addison of Shelby, NC, and Dana Silva of Shelby, NC.

Born November 17, 1946 in York County, SC, Roger was the son of the late Everette Henson and Janie Spurling Duncan and was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew "Danny" Henson and a sister, Mary Alice Henson.

Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a great Christian man that attended Manna Baptist Church in Shelby. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially playing with his great granddaughter, Waverly.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
