Roger Scott Cox

Roger Scott Cox, age 60, of Shelby, NC, met his Lord and Savior on October 11, 2026, with his loving wife, Amber Cox, by his side.

In addition to his wife, Roger will be waiting for his daughters, Erin (Andy) Cox McKinney of Seneca, SC, and Brandy (Michael "Sean") Wen of Raleigh, NC, and his son, Cory (Brittany) Franklin of Shelby, NC, to join him.

Roger adored his grandchildren: Jayln and Cullen Moon, Kai and Elli McKinney, Rosemary and Soren Wen, and Kadyn, Koltyn, and Memphis Franklin; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Moon.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Ruth Cox; brothers, Terry and Marty Cox; grandson, Karsyn Franklin; in-laws, Bob and Marilyn Ramsey; and a special aunt, Hazel Berry, whom he loved and adored like a second mother.

Roger's cousins, church family, Gideon family, Pike work family, friends, and those who became like family over the years were all special to him. His family thanks each of you for being a friend to him during his lifetime.

Roger's life was the epitome of serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Through the storm of cancer, he remained steadfast in trusting God's plan for him. He never ceased praying for others, even through pain and sickness. His love for his family showed in his daily walk of life, communicating with his loved ones and always, always showing up, even when it meant traveling hours to be there.

Roger is now at the feet of Jesus, reunited with the family who went before him. May you live like Roger: kind, loving, prayerful for others, and always showing up. May you never get too busy to be present. Do all you can, while you can. Sixty years does not feel like enough time, but it was his time, and he made the most of it. May you also hear, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Robert Rash and Bob Ward officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International; https://gideons.org/donate Calvary Baptist Church, 320 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby, NC 28152; or Sons of the American Legion, Squadrent 82; 1628 S Lafayette St, Shelby, NC 28152 in Roger's memory.
