Roger William Dixon
Roger William Dixon, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Atrium Health - Cleveland.
Born in Cleveland County on December 24, 1941, he was the son of the late William Alexander Dixon and Sue Tillman Dixon. He was a lifetime member of Kadesh United Methodist Church, Lawndale, where he served in many different capacities. He was a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College. Roger was a member of the North Carolina chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Battle at Kings Mountain Brigade of Friends. He was an avid genealogist and woodworker. He retired from a 30 year career as a machinist at FAS Controls in Shelby.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana Ware Dixon; daughter, Nicki Dixon Vaca and husband Oren of Lawndale; son Timothy Roger Dixon and wife Rebecca of Gastonia; 2 grandsons, Alexander Vaca of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Benjamin Vaca of Charlotte, and granddaughter, Emily F. Dixon of Gastonia; sister, Barbara Dixon Dayberry of Lawndale, and two special nieces, Ellen Poston and Sara McNeilly.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Kadesh United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Kadesh United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Brian Elwell.
Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
