Ronald LaMonte Hoskins

Mr. Ronald LaMonte Hoskins, 62 of 315 Best St. Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby. He was born on November 7, 1953 in Cleveland County, NC and was the youngest child of the late Ayfield Hoskins, Jr. and the late Virginia Stout Hoskins.

Ronald graduated from Shelby High School in 1972 where he was the first black class president. After high school, he attended Western Carolina University and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Gardner Webb University. Ronald also served in the United States Army.

Ronald was employed with Hoskins Floor Sanding until his health failed. He was previously employed with Cleveland Community College and Mitchell College as an instructor, Partners with Kingston Youth as a director and the Small Business Center at Gaston College also as a director. Ronald was also a guest columnist for the Charlotte Observer on small business.

Ronald was a member of Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ayfield Hoskins, III.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Ambria Hoskins of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Gloria H. Mitchell (William) of Shelby; a brother, Steven Hoskins also of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Lonnie Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the church on Tuesday and at other times at the home of his sister, Gloria H. Mitchell, 1163 County Home Rd. in Shelby.
