Ronald "Ron" Edwin Greene, 71 of Old Stagecoach Road, Lawndale, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Rutherford County, NC on May 13, 1951, he was the son of the late Kenneth Baxter Greene and Eula Mae Hamrick Greene. Ron retired from Burns High School after serving as Head Football Coach for 26 dedicated years. During this time, he also worked as Athletic Director. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his young son, Jason Greene.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Deborah Huntley Greene; two daughters, Christie Clary and husband, Brooks of Lawndale and Jackie Greene of Lawndale; four grandchildren, Jay Guillermo and wife, Ava, Justin Clary, Jason Davis and Madison Davis and one great-granddaughter, Luna Claire Guillermo.

Coach Ron Greene was a devoted man of God who lived a life driven by strong faith, perseverance and an unconditional love for his family. He took great pride in his beloved family, his community, Burns High football and all "his boys". Through his love for the game of football, his passion and drive to coach the game of life was evident. Strong character, integrity, servanthood and work-ethic were modeled and instilled upon thousands of young men and coaches over his career.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 7:30 pm at Burns High School, Ron Greene Stadium, 307 E. Stagecoach Trail Lawndale, North Carolina 28090 with the Rev. Terry Bird, Rev. Chad Beam and Rev. Vincent Ross officiating.

The family invites all former football players and coaches to join them and gather at the field house prior to the service to walk with the family as "honorary pallbearers". The gates will be open beginning at 6:30 pm. Special seating will be reserved.

A private burial will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
