Mrs. Rosa (Rosie) Goddard Ash lived a life marked by love of God, love of family, and faithful service to her church and community. Rosa was born on May 5, 1926, to the late King and Cora Byrd Goddard. Her soul peacefully returned to her maker on April 7, 2026, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a brief illness, just shy of becoming a centenarian.

She leaves to cherish her memory her treasured grandchildren, Tatia Ash of Durham, NC, Adrienne Hersey (Anthony) of Charlotte, NC and Herbert "Trip" Ash III (Taneisha) of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren Addison Ash and Tegan Ash of Charlotte, NC; daughter in law, Carrie Ash of Bennettsville, SC, and her adored siblings Rev. Thomas C. Goddard and Cora Mae Borders, of Lawndale, NC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Herbert Ash, Sr., Rosa often spoke fondly of their beloved children, Betty Ash Smith and Herbert Ash Jr., and of her sisters, Elizabeth Borders, Annie Clara Goddard, and brothers, Charles (Bill) Goddard, Willie Ed Goddard, all of whom preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Shelby, NC with burial in Webb Memorial Lawns.
