Roy F. Parsons

Roy F. Parsons, 86, of Shelby, North Carolina, originally born in Logan, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Atrium Health-Cleveland.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Roy led a long and accomplished career across various industries. He spent the final 25 years of his full-time working life with Blackhawk Molding, rising through the ranks to become Plant Manager. During his tenure, he played a key role in overseeing the construction of a new facility. Even in retirement, Roy continued to travel and work well into his 80s as a Field Service Technician, providing support and repairs for bottling plants nationwide.

Roy had a passion for travel, a knack for buying and selling vehicles, and a love for gathering friends and family together--hosting countless celebrations over the years.

He was the son of Ernest Parsons and Virginia Brown. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernie Parsons, and three sons: Mark Parsons, James Parsons, and Steve Tighe.

Roy is survived by his children: Roy Parsons (Linda), Michael Tighe (Rachel), Jana Kaminski (Jim), Carolyn Parsons Gerardi (Jeff), and Lenette Sanders (Tony); daughter-in-law, Carol Parsons (widow of Mark Parsons); and his beloved niece, Georgia Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters: Brenda Ferrell, Tina Dingess, Rose Elkins (Joe), and Susan Storie; and brothers: Richard Cocoa, Danny Parsons (Cindy), and Freddie Parsons (Sherry).

Roy leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Roy on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

A graveside service officiated by his grandson Mark Tighe and great-nephew John Lattimore will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 342 John Cline Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.
