Mr. Roy Lee Laborn, 79, of Kingstown, NC, entered eternal rest to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Atrium Health Cleveland. He was born on September 13, 1945, in Shelby, NC, to the late Lee Roy and Magnolia Laborn.

He is preceded in death by one grandson, Malcolm Laborn.

He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Alice Surratt Laborn. Their union was blessed with ten children: Michael Laborn, Lisa Laborn Sasser, Teresa Laborn, April Laborn, Monique Degree, Kassi Laborn (Washington, DC), Joshua Laborn, Ashley Laborn, DeVontae Laborn, and Stephon Laborn, all of Shelby, NC.

Mr. Roy also nurtured several of his grandchildren in the home, including Gerrard Laborn, Jamara Adams (Shawn), Torrance "TJ" Laborn, Maria Twitty, Justin Camp, Dailyn Laborn, Kei'Mari' Twitty, and Jah Laborn, along with a beloved niece, Stacey Haynes (Sylvester) all of Shelby, NC.

He is also survived by his sister, Ola Laborn, and brothers Marshall Laborn, Clarence Laborn, and Eugene Laborn all of Shelby, NC. Additional survivors include his sisters-in-law: Hazel Gladden, Maggie Carson, Estelle Watson, and Bernice Laborn.

Mr. Roy leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family, including 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Roberts Tabernacle CME Church in Shelby, NC.
