Roy "Steve" Huskey, age 70, of Grover Scruggs Road, Mooresboro, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

Steve was born Thursday, November 1, 1951 in Cleveland County to the late Charles Fletcher Huskey and Ruby Norman Huskey. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Steve was a pilot during the war and flew Huey and Cobra Helicopters. Later he worked on offshore oil rigs and was an oil platform operator for several years. Steve loved raising livestock which included cattle and horses. He was a member of Chase Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Huskey.

Left to cherish fond memories are his son, Brian Huskey (Jen) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Stephanie Dobbins of Mooresboro; brother, Charles Michael Huskey (Nancy) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Cody Dobbins of Asheville, Faith Dobbins of Mooresboro, Cecilia Huskey of Charlotte, Caroline Huskey of Charlotte and a great-grandchild, Jackson Bleu.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Scott Butler and Mr. Cody Dobbins officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
