Ruby Byars Bridges, age 77, of Sandy Mush, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Carolinas Health System-Cleveland.
Born May 30, 1940 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter to the late John Byars and Allie Campbell Byars. Ruby was homemaker and enjoyed taking care of children. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro where she assisted with Vacation Bible School for several years. Ruby also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music and especially loved each member of her family dearly. She was a kindhearted and loving lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Leverette and an infant brother, Joe Boy Byars.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of almost fifty-six years, Howard Bridges; two daughters, Tammy Radford and husband, Billy of Shiloh and Teresa Buckner and husband, Jesse of Henrietta; one son, Terry Scott Bridges of Sandy Mush; four sisters, Mary Causby of Ellenboro, Louise Wilson and husband, Perry of the Chase Community, Martha Byars of Cliffside and Sandra Bailey and husband, Wayne of Hollis; three brothers, Mike Byars and wife, Debbie of Shelby, David Byars and wife, Barbara of Henrietta and Donald Byars and wife, Debbie also of Cliffside. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Travis Radford (Karlena), Justin Radford (Sarah Holland), Thomas Buckner, Jessica Buckner, Tera Wease, Carla Bridges, Ronnie Wood and Dexter Bridges; ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Sam, Brooklyn, Seth, Hayden, Aubrie, Lyndon, Benjamin, Ruby Jewel and a host of loving friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro with Reverend Johnny McCarty and Reverend Danny Black officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
