Ruby Diane (McAlister) Harper, 84, of Shelby, NC, passed away at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC, on March 18th, 2026.

Born on September 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie McAlister.

Ruby was preceded in death by her only child, a son, Ben Leslie Bowen III, and she is survived by her one and only grandchild, Dr. Alisha H. Bowen of Clover, SC.

Ruby was a woman of great joy, ensuring those around her laughed each day. Her granddaughter was the light of her life, never failing to light up like a Christmas tree every time Alisha would enter her room to visit her. During her final moments this side of Glory, she shared with Alisha she was getting ready to see her baby boy in Heaven. A few short hours later, she did just that! What a grand reunion day for them both!

Ruby was a woman of faith and made sure she asked everyone who visited her if they were in church. Her commitment to the Lord sealed the promise that she is now with Jesus, celebrating life to its fullest!

A private burial will take place at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Reverend Benjamin Brown officiating.
