Ruby Johnson Parris

Mrs. Ruby Johnson Parris, age 89, of Cliffside, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, March 30, 2017, while being surrounded by her loving family at Spartanburg, Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 26, 1927 to the late Andrew and Alice Putman Johnson and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herman, Earl, Wade and Bobo Johnson and sister, Helen Johnson. Ruby was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Joseph Paul Fasolino.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Leroy Parris after 72 wonderful years together. She is also survived by her daughter Jo Anne Fasolino and husband Joe, and daughter, Peggy Hamrick, widow of Roger. Ruby also was blessed with the joy of two granddaughters, Michelle Jack (Bobby) and Christina Lee (Johnny); and 5 great grandchildren Benji Jack, Naomi Jack, Alexis Jack, Christopher Lee and Samatha Lee.

She graduated with honors from Cliffside High School in 1945 and furthered her education in Cecil's Business College. Ruby worked at Cliffside Mills (later owned by Cone Mills) as a secretary in the office and later was secretary to the Manager, she finished her forty-year career as Supervisor in the Supply Room.

Ruby was always active in church and had many hobbies including gardening, cooking, sewing, needlepoint and making their house a home. She loved reading, doing various types of puzzles, playing with her granddaughters and great grandchildren, traveling and camping at the beach.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at State Line Baptist Church on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Rev. Kris Showen and Rev. Mike Sepaugh will minister and conduct the Service. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends in the church sanctuary beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery.
