Mr. Rush Leander Padgett, age 85 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his children, Roger Padgett of Shelby, NC, Dennis Padgett of Shelby, NC, and Eddie Ray Padgett, Sr. (Donna) of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Rush D. Padgett (Courtney), Arianna Padgett, Maria Padgett (Jonathan Davis), and Eddie Padgett Jr., two great grandchildren, Rush C. Padgett and Ryder D. Padgett, three brothers, Howard Padgett Sr., Fay Padgett (Shirley), and Steve Padgett (Sarah), five sisters, Ruth Padgett Willis, Helen Tipton, Jane Camby, Elaine Dobbins (Ronald) and Matilda Hamrick (Wayne) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born October 19, 1932 in Cleveland County, Mr. Padgett was the son of the late Pless Carl Padgett and Dora Wilson Padgett and was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Irene Whisnant Padgett.
Rush was a lifelong member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Rush was the owner/operator of Carolina Braided Rugs. He was also a member of Camp Call Masonic Lodge 534 in Polkville and a member of the Shriners Club. Rush enjoyed telling stories and joking around with his friends. He also enjoyed country/bluegrass/gospel music, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tom Runyon and Dr. Paul Sorrells. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
